Club rules and safety

Safety on the range is everyone's responsibility.

These rules keep everyone safe and protect the good name of the club. The committee may update them; the current version always appears here.

Range safety

  • Shoot only when the range is declared clear and the shooting lane is empty.
  • Never walk into the shooting lane while anyone is drawing or shooting.
  • Wait in the safety shelter or behind the designated line when arrows are in flight.
  • Never point a drawn bow — loaded or unloaded — anywhere but the target.
  • Inspect your bow and arrows before use; do not use damaged equipment.
  • Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Alcohol and archery do not mix: no one may shoot after drinking.
  • Follow the instructions of the range officer or committee members at all times.

Conduct

  • Treat team-mates, opponents, spectators and neighbours with respect.
  • Banter is part of the game; abuse and harassment are not.
  • Leave the ground as clean as you found it.

Membership

  • Membership is personal and cannot be transferred.
  • Members must keep their contact and emergency details up to date.
  • The committee may suspend a membership for serious or repeated breaches of these rules.
