Bhutanese archery in Australia
Across Australia
Bhutanese communities across Australia continue to play and celebrate traditional archery. In several states, local communities have established their own ranges so that people can keep enjoying the national sport and gather as a community.
Community-run ranges
Ranges set up and looked after by local communities are what make regular play possible. They are where match days happen, where newcomers are welcomed and where the next generation learns the game.
Our club in Melbourne
The Bhutanese community in Melbourne has proudly kept this tradition going. For around five years, Druk Melbourne Archery Club has used a range in Melbourne's north-western area, where our members have continued to play and compete.
The club uses this range; it does not own it. Session locations are confirmed on each event.
Match days
For a community living overseas, these match days are an important way of keeping our cultural identity alive.
Towards a permanent range
As the club grows, we hope to strengthen this tradition and work towards a permanent, purpose-built range that can serve the community for generations to come.
This is an aspiration. The club does not yet have a permanent, purpose-built range.
